Types of Therapy
I am an integrative counsellor which means I use the range of therapies below to best suit your needs. Each person is different, and I do not believe that there is one type of therapy that works for everyone, so I incorporate different aspects of these approaches to make a personalised session based on your needs. Therapy’s offered include: Brief therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Techniques, Creative Therapy, Ecotherapy, Person Centred, Play Therapy, Pre-Trial Therapy and Systemic Therapy
Brief therapy is short-term focused therapy where we can work together for a fixed number of sessions. This type of therapy is generally used when the person in therapy already has ideas of possible solutions. It can be beneficial for young people experiencing issues at school, behavioural concerns and relationship problems.
Cognitive Behavioural Techniques are used in my practice to help you change patterns of thinking and behaviour that are causing difficulties in daily life.
Creative Therapy uses a range of activities during sessions such as drawing, painting, using play-dough and clay, creating different things (for example stress balls) and much more. This is not solely used for children and young people; it can be very useful for adults to help them unlock their feelings.
Ecotherapy involves various techniques both inside and outside the counselling room. Walk and talk therapy is an example where we would walk around a park/field and have our counselling session in a different environment. It can also involve using objects of nature inside the counselling room to unlock emotions.
Person Centred involves being client led, it gives you the power to talk about what you want to talk about and the space to explore what you need to within the sessions.
Play Therapy is mostly done with younger children and involves expressing emotions through play. Its non-directive and less intense to ensure each child feels comfortable and safe in the session.
Pre-trial therapy is for individuals who are going to Court regarding an incident that is happened. Pre-trial therapy is specifically about working with the emotions involved in the here and now, and not about what happened to you or anything to do with the court case as per Crown Prosecution Service Guidelines.
Systemic Therapy can be done with both individuals and their families. It looks at the greater picture of you, your life and upbringing to see what impacts family could have on your behaviour.
Clients I work with

How I deliver Therapy
I offer both long-term and short-term counselling, however, due to the current crisis, counselling is only being offered online through Zoom, or by telephone for those without access to a computer/webcam. Once this crisis is over, I will also offer face to face sessions as well as online sessions. I offer ecotherapy, such as walk and talk therapy, which involves using nature in the therapy sessions.
