About

child counsellor

Hello, my name is Amber, I have a Master of Science degree in Counselling Children and Young People from the University of Northampton, and am a fully qualified Counsellor with two years of counselling experience. I am a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and am working towards my accreditation.

My counselling journey started in October 2017 when I moved to Northampton to study for my master’s degree. I started seeing my first clients in 2018, working in a secondary school with students aged 11-18. I received a Distinction in my MSc Counselling Children and Young People degree and following completion of the course I began working at a specialist centre for survivors of rape and sexual abuse.

My work at the Centre is offering support and counselling to our clients at an emotional and vulnerable point in their lives. As part of this role I have delivered short-term crisis counselling to young females and women who are survivors of rape and sexual abuse. Additionally, I have worked with children and women who are going to Court with their cases, supporting them with pre-trial counselling in line with the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) and BACP guidelines.

I have worked with a range of people from ages 11 to 60 and am trained to work with children from 5 and upwards as well as offering family therapy. I am an integrative counsellor and alter my approach to best suit your needs. This means that I incorporate a range of counselling theories and approaches in my work and adapt counselling styles to meet everyone’s individual needs. This incorporates a range of techniques such as creative techniques, cognitive behavioural techniques, person-centred, ecotherapy and many more.

Due to the current crisis, counselling is only being offered online through Zoom or by telephone for those without access to a computer/webcam. Once this crisis is over, I will also be able to offer face to face sessions as well as online sessions.

I have an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Scheme which is available upon request.
